Essay on The Importance of a Sample Size
Where time and resources allow, a researcher should take as big a sample as possible. With a large sample, the researcher is confident that if another sample size of the same size were to be selected, findings from the two samples would be similar to a high degree. The danger with small sample is that they do not reproduce the salient characteristics of the accessible population to an acceptable degree. Before going ahead to calculate the sample size, with the assumption that the data is continuous, the researcher should first of determine whether a categorical variable will play a primary role in the analysis of data.
