What is inference and link it to probability sampling design?
Probability sampling seeks to ensure that every single unit in the sample in the sampling frame has some association with the probability to being chosen. There is therefore a known probability of each item from being picked. This allows for statistical inference whereby the parameters are generalized into the target population in consideration of the margin of error. The laws of probability therefore permit the ascertainment of the reflection of the characteristics estimated into the population.
